Donald Chew is an IT Service & Support Leader, HDI Advocate and People Connector with over 35 years of experience in call center and customer service environments—and the last 25 of those in the IT service and support industry. He brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and heart to every team he’s a part of. Currently, he serves as one of three Supervisors for the Mayo Clinic IT Help Desk, where he leads a team of 16 with a strong focus on day-to-day operations, high-quality service delivery, and the ongoing development and coaching of his staff.
His journey with HDI began in 2012 at his first ever HDI Conference—a transformative experience that sparked a passion for inspiring others and sharing his HDI story. Since then, Donald has been deeply involved in the HDI community, serving in various leadership roles including VP of Communications, Chapter President, Webmaster, and currently as VP of Membership for the Minnesota Local Chapter. Nationally, he serves as District President and Chair of the HDI Awards Committee and has also chaired the planning committee for the annual Local Chapter Officer Leadership Development Summit. Donald has also been a panelist at multiple sessions at both HDI Support World Live and Service Management World conferences.
Donald’s contributions have not gone unnoticed. He received the prestigious HDI Crayola Award in 2014 and has been recognized multiple times as a standout Local Chapter Officer—including being a national finalist in 2015 and 2023 and winning the Local Chapter Officer of the Year Award in 2024.
